Projects and case work

Problem. Work. Proof.

Projects are separated by professional experience, client or business work, internal projects, lab work, and active development so the claims stay honest.

01 / Client/business project - active development

ADLS Academy

A bilingual beauty-academy website and operations portal project with public SEO work and protected application routes.

Problem
ADLS needed clearer public information, stronger local-search structure, and a protected operational system that keeps business workflows separate from public website content.
Work performed
Work has included static public-site improvements, bilingual page structure, Nginx and Cloudflare discovery, PostgreSQL-backed portal work, authenticated route checks, database migrations, backup discipline, and approval-gated knowledge organization.
Technology
Node.js, Express, EJS, PostgreSQL, Nginx, Cloudflare, Static SEO pages
Operational and security considerations
Public website content, login/application routes, pricing, and approval status are treated as separate concerns. The project avoids publishing unapproved claims, pricing, credentials, or private operational details.
Result/status
Active development. Verified records include running application checks, public-site smoke tests, service catalog work, backups, and staged bilingual website improvements. This is ongoing client/business work, not a finished packaged product.
What it demonstrates
Business-system thinking, practical web operations, security boundaries, local SEO preparation, and disciplined change control.

02 / Internal platform - active development/evaluation

Christine AI

A bilingual AI customer-interaction platform being evaluated with grounded company knowledge, browser interaction, and telephone experimentation.

Problem
Small businesses need a safer way for AI assistants to answer from approved company knowledge without inventing prices, policies, credentials, or unavailable details.
Work performed
Christine has been built in phases with Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, company-profile isolation, approved-knowledge retrieval, evidence-constrained responses, local Ollama inference evaluation, browser interaction, and Twilio telephony experimentation.
Technology
Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, Ollama, Linux, Proxmox, Twilio POC
Operational and security considerations
The system is explicitly not represented as a production commercial AI service. Live calls, voice providers, company knowledge, and customer-facing answers are controlled by phase gates and approval rules.
Result/status
Active development and evaluation. It demonstrates architecture, grounding, local inference testing, security controls, and telephony experiments, but does not claim production customer adoption or proven revenue impact.
What it demonstrates
AI-system boundaries, grounded-answer design, infrastructure discipline, privacy awareness, and realistic product-development staging.

03 / Personal lab - verified environment

Proxmox Infrastructure Lab

A working home-lab environment for virtualization, Linux, Windows, networking, security tooling, and systems practice.

Proxmox Virtual Environment dashboard showing node Phantom and virtual machines
Verified lab snapshot - Proxmox Virtual Environment on node Phantom
Problem
Enterprise IT and cybersecurity skills are stronger when support scenarios, server changes, network behavior, and recovery planning can be practiced in a controlled environment.
Work performed
The lab includes Proxmox VE, multiple VMs and containers, Linux and Windows hosts, local storage, application services, controlled SSH access, and iterative service verification.
Technology
Proxmox VE, Ubuntu, Windows Server, Linux, Docker, Cloudflare Tunnel
Operational and security considerations
This is a personal lab and demonstration environment. Lab work is not presented as paid enterprise deployment work.
Result/status
Verified lab evidence is available from the Proxmox dashboard and active VM/service checks. The lab supports learning, testing, and internal project development.
What it demonstrates
Infrastructure curiosity, practical troubleshooting, virtualization fluency, and willingness to learn by operating real systems.

04 / Infrastructure maintenance - active

Self-Hosted Web Infrastructure

Hands-on website hosting and troubleshooting across static sites, Nginx, DNS, Cloudflare, custom domains, and deployment paths.

Problem
A polished website still fails if domain routing, server roots, tunnels, asset paths, and HTTPS behavior are inconsistent.
Work performed
The documented workflow includes read-only discovery first, public DNS checks, origin/root verification, asset-path testing, Cloudflare Tunnel review, Nginx inspection when reachable, backups before edits, and careful separation of public sites from internal services.
Technology
Static sites, Nginx, Cloudflare DNS, Cloudflare Tunnel, HTTPS, Linux
Operational and security considerations
The work avoids changing DNS, tunnels, firewall rules, or server configuration until the likely cause and exact proposed change are identified.
Result/status
On October 16, 2026, diagnosed an ADLS Academy outage caused by tunnel routes pointing to an old server address. Updated both hostname routes and verified HTTP 200 responses for the homepage, www hostname, and login page. This portfolio is published separately through Sites at hireerikgarwick.com.
What it demonstrates
Real-world website operations, diagnostics, hosting discipline, and respect for production change control.
